The Global Environment Facility (GEF) will provide $7 million to the program of greening of oil, coal-mining industries and hydroenergetics, reported at Friday Assistant of energy-efficient lighting project of United Nations Development Program in Russia (UNDP) Olga Martynenko.

"The project has started just in 2012 and has designed for six years. From the GEF funds will be allocated $7 million and the total budget for this project is estimated at $40 million including the funding of demonstration projects of the companies" - said Olga Martynenko on the press conference devoted to Environmental Film Festival "Ekochashka." She also explained that there were held the preliminary negotiations with representatives of such companies as "RusHydro", LUKOIL and Sakhalin Energy. "

So with Sakhalin Energy there were discussed the plans of approval of drilling activities on the Sea of Okhotsk according to the periods of migration of whales in these places," - explained to RIA Novosti Communications Consultant of UNDP in Russia Elena Surovikina.

Besides, she added that in the process of construction of oil and gas conduits the experts of UNDP would offer the companies to build special bridges above the rivers for the conduits in order to not to impede the movement of fish. "The project will offer some options that can minimize the influence on the environment" - added Elena Surovikina.

She also explained that in the sphere of oil industry the UNDP project would support the technologies of reducing oil in the Caspian Sea, the Nenets Autonomous District and in the southern part of Yakutia. In the sphere of hydroenergetics the “green" technology will be implemented in the Caucasus and Yakutia. And in the coal mining industry on two operating coal mines in Siberia there will be implemented some environmental solutions, as well as they will be proposed for the five new projects of coal mines.
