18.07.2011. The Public Hearings on the draft of the 2011 National Human Development Report ‘Modernization and Human Development’
On July 18, 2011, within the framework of the meeting of the Expert Working Group of the Presidential Commission for Modernisation and Technological Development of Russia's Economy,
the Public Hearings on the draft of the 2011 National Human Development Report ‘Modernization and Human Development’ were held in the conference hall of Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman. The Draft Report was prepared by a team of independent experts on the initiative of the United Nations Development Programme in the Russian Federation and with support of the Faculty of Economics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, a National Executing Agency for the Project ‘Mainstreaming Human Development in Russia’.
Sergey Bobylev as the 2011 Report co-editor and chief editor of the previous National Human Development Reports in the Russian Federation presented the work of the experts’ team and outlined the contents of the chapter covering the topic of modernization and sustainable development, which he has prepared jointly with Vladimir Zakharov. Some other topics of the 2011 NHDR were presented by chapter authors Evsey Gurvich, Liliya Ovcharova and Natalia Zubarevich.
The meeting agenda also included presentation and discussion of three reports on the cultural, educational and scientific policies and human capital as factors of Russia’s modernization, prepared by the Foundation ‘Strategy 2020’.
As informed by Alexander Auzan, Chaiman of the Expert Working Group of the Presidential Commission for Modernisation and Technological Development of Russia's Economy, the results of these discussions will form the basis for formulating the instructions for the RF Government in the area of cultural, educational and scientific policies.
