05.07.2011. Training “Healthy lifestyle in the regions affected by the effects of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant” in the framework of the ICRIN project was conducted in Moscow region
On the 27 – 29th of June the training “Healthy lifestyle in the regions affected by the effects of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant” was conducted in “Spasatel” health centre of EMERCOM of the Russian Federation. The training was organized in the framework of the ICRIN project by UNDP in partnership with WHO for teachers, social workers, school and social centres psychologists.
Participants from Orel, Bryansk, Tula and Kaluga regions were assimilating experience of carrying out preventive and educational work among young people to develop basic healthy lifestyle skills using “peer to peer” methodology. Through this methodology young trainers are able to carry out educational activities with their peers and develop knowledge and skills, and also help them to be responsible for their health. Representatives from UNDP Russia, WHO headquarters, and also experts from EMERCOM Federal Scientific and Research Institute, Obninsk Scientific and Research Institute “Prognoz”, First Moscow State Medical University named after Setchenov, Russian Institute of agricultural radiology and agroeceology, Scientific and Research Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.br />
Training participants were very enthusiastic in presenting their projects which are being implemented in their regions. Most of the projects are aimed at work with children and adolescents to promote healthy lifestyle. Trainees liked this part of the training - while discussing the projects the participants shared experience, discussed problems, and suggested the most effective ways of achieving results in their work.
During the training sessions participants were trained on prevention of different abuses (alcoholism, tobacco smoking, drug abuse, early sexual relations) and reducing their impact on youth’s health. Participating in the workshop trainees have got skills to use educational techniques in working with youth and promoting healthy lifestyle. On the last training day participants have presented their newly developed programme concepts on healthy lifestyle promotion. The programme concepts included profound analysis of the situation, key audience needs, search for using innovating techniques, and new communicative channels. Trainers and experts appreciated participants’ presentations that justifies achieving the goals and objectives of the training.
Small grants open contest was announced during the training “Healthy lifestyle in the regions affected by the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant” in the framework of ICRIN project. The main goal of the contest is to attract more attention and raise interest and promote the healthy lifestyle among different groups of population.
