17.06.2011. The VIP-poachers ways to be blocked in Komi Republic

June17, 2011,  Komi Republic. Interdepartmental agreement to control the helicopter flights in federal and regional nature reserves was signed today .  It was the first time when it was raised a barrier for VIP-poachers in Russia.

The Agreement was accepted by 8 agencies: Federal Service for the Oversight of Natural Resources of the Republic of Komi, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of  Komi Republic, Pechoro-Ilychskiy State Biosphere Nature reserve,  Yugyd Va National Park,  the Avianavigation of Northern Urals Komi branch ,  Federal State Unitary Enterprise State ATM Corporation, Komi Regional Agency of Territorial Air Transport, Regional Agency of Federal Service for Transport Supervision.

It is  the precedent within the whole country  to prevent  one of the most dangerous poaching activity helicopter poaching, - says Vassily Ponomarev, the UNDP/GEF project manager  of Strengthening Protected Area System of the Komi Republic to Conserve Virgin Forest Biodiversity in the Pechora River Headwaters Region.  - The objective of agreement is  to resist illegal hunting and fishing in nature reserves and reduce significantly the number of illegal helicopter flights to protected areas.

The Agreement includes parties cooperation  in  organizing and running authorized helicopter flights on territory of federal and regional nature reserves and also in joint decision making in suppression of unauthorized helicopter flights on territory of federal and regional nature reserves and in revealing of incidents of helicopter poaching including cross-border regions.

Joint data base will be also set up for operate reaction in cases of rules, standards and terms violations during the helicopter flights on the territory of federal and regional nature reserves.
