0610.06.2011 Introduction to sustainable development of rural territories. Study tour to Molopolskoe Voevodstvo, Republic of Poland.

06 June 10 June 2011 . Study tour to Molopolskoe Voevodstvo, Republic of Poland, was organized for Government and NGO representatives of North Ossetia Alania under the project Sustainable development and integration in Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
The aim of the study tour was familiarization with successful experience of Polish Republic in sustainable development achieved through partnership, diversification of small business, implementation of rural development projects.
In the study tour participated: Deputy Minister of agriculture and food of RNO-A, I. T. Dzagoeva, Deputy Chairman of the North Ossetia brunch of Russian Childrens Fund, D. O. Fedorovich, Deputy Director of the International Innovation Scientific-technical Center Sustainable development of mountainous areas of RNO-A, V. D. Tabolov, Director of Gallery IR-ART of RNO-A, Galazova L. B. UNDP Project Assistant in RNO-A, Tsaritova A. A.
The study tour to Malopolsha was organized through Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation. The Foundation is the most experienced organization in supporting practical actions for sustainable development in Poland. Starting from 1991 the Foundation supports local civil society initiatives, motivates population and organizations for partnership in projects on sustainable development and environmental protection.
Malopolskoe Voevodstvo is located in the south Poland. Occupies the territory of 1 514 419 hectares, 4,8% of the total territory of the country, with total population of 3 million 298 thousand people. Although the main agricultural task of Malopolsha is still production of high quality products, agricultural tourism is considered as an important branch of economy on both local and regional level, promotes social and economic activation of rural territories, affects development of entrepreneurship and helps to create alternative income sources, in particular service sector, trade and small scale production.
During the study tour the participants visited an eco-school, small business development projects, agrotourism farms, eco-museum, were introduced and participated in meeting with local authorities at different levels and well as with local initiative groups.
Following the study tour, a round table session is planned to be organized in Vladikavkaz with participation of the Heads of district Administrations of RNO-A, Ministry of agriculture and food of RNO-A, representatives of Public Chamber of RNO-A, Centre for development of agricultural tourism of RNO-A, farmers and other interested parties.
